Just 2.5 miles south you'll find the fashionable Salvo Day Use Area, where you can experience the other side of the island. Maintained by the National Park Service, this family-friendly soundside beach includes a picnic area and restroom facilities. It's the ideal place for launching kayaks, kiteboards and SUP's. For more adventure, take a short drive south to Cape Hatteras where you can climb the lighthouse, go driving on the beach, or hop on a ferry to Ocracoke. Animals allowed - dogs only.
