Custom cabinetry, the kitchen island, and soaring eight-foot barn doors are handcrafted on-site from reclaimed heart pine, sourced during the home’s renovations. Entertainment is seamlessly modern with a Samsung 4k Intelligent TV, offering complimentary access to Youtube TV, Netflix, Amazon, and Prime Video. This one queen bedroom suite is designed for rest, offering sound machines, surrounded by cypress shiplap walls and centuries-old heart pine—much of it dating back to the early 1600’s. The bathrooms are masterful blends of history and luxury, tiled with original repurposed Vermont slate dating to 1851, when the home was constructed by shipwrights. Salvaged standing-seam tin from the original front porch roof forms a striking backsplash behind the hand-hammered, nickel-plated vessel sink. A period-inspired water closet sourced from Kent, England complete the Old World aesthetic. Outdoors, guests can embrace the Charleston tradition: calming on the porch and appreciating the coastal breeze. Guest Access:

This suite has access to complimentary parking for one car, the huge front porch with exclusive, dedicated seating, a private rear porch, and patio with Green Egg charcoal grille with charcoal. The suite is accessed via a gorgeous original spiral staircase, a signature architectural detail of The Charlestonian's 1851 construction. Please note the second-floor location is not suitable for guests with significant mobility limitations or those traveling with very young kids, our Sires Suite on the ground floor of the home is ideal for guests needing special accomodations.



The Neighborhood:

The Cannonborough neighborhood is an inviting downtown area that blends classic architecture with a modern lifestyle. Guests can enjoy convenient dining options directly next door at Southbound and Ladles Soup across from the apartment. It’s steps away from the College of Charleston and MUSC, as well as Charleston's finest and shopping.



Getting Around:

We offer complimentary parking on-site. We are only 3 blocks from Upper King Street, so most guests prefer to walk and discover the city. The beach is 15 mins. away by car. There is also a complimentary shuttle offered by the city that runs along King Street (3 blocks away) to fashionable stops. Bicycle units are available close by or you might enjoy trying a pedicab taxi.



Other Things to Note:

We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible eateries such as Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche eateries closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat. If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.
