Corolla is known as a laidback Outer Banks beach, ideal for spending time in a vacation home and on the beach with the people you appreciate -- mostly clear of tourist distractions. Whalehead mansion has been around for nearly 100 years and was entirely restored in the 1990s to its original construction and decor. This massive 21,000 square foot historic mansion is open for tours and is a prime location for many weddings, get-togethers, and other events!

In the same Historic Corolla Park area, you can hop right over to the new Currituck Maritime Museum. The museum just opened in 2021 and is filled with impressive, completely-restored historic boats and the rich history associated with them. You can also tour other exhibits offered by the museum on lighthouses, fishing, lifesaving stations, and weather.
