This unique 24-acre resort property located right on the edge of the Town of Duck, NC, sits between the Ocean and the Sound, and offers access to both. This is arguably one of the best locations in the Outer Banks for convenience and walking / cycling proximity to multiple activities and dining options.

THE SPACE

From your unit you can walk, bicycle, or drive to the Beach, Outdoor pool area, and the Sound. Or you can walk / bicycle to the village of Duck and shop or dine along the 1-mile boardwalk located along the Sound. In the evenings try not to miss some of the spectacular sunsets over the Sound.

This is a two level 3BR/3BA unit located in the 100 Building on the 2nd floor. One of the best features of this specific unit is the amount of space it provides for the entire family, both indoors and outdoors on the 2 huge decks.

Main Level - Full Kitchen with Stove, Oven, Fridge, Dishwasher, Microwave, Coffee Maker, Toaster, Blender, etc. Sit up bar / 3 stools, Dining Table / 6 chairs, Extensive Family room with Loveseat and Sleeper couch, Fireplace, Bedroom w/Queen bed, Full Bathroom w/shower, Enormous deck w / breathtaking garden view and plenty of room for the family.

Lower Level - 2nd Bedroom with 2 Twin beds, Full size Bathroom with Tub/Shower combo, Master Bedroom with Queen bed, ensuite Bathroom with Stand up shower, Washer / Dryer, another Giant Deck with table / 4 chairs and view of Currituck Sound and the great sunsets

This 3BR unit at roughly 1,450sq ft and is rated to sleep eight (8) to ten (10) persons. There is a Washer / Dryer inside your unit.

GARDEN / SOUND VIEW CATEGORY:

While the resort itself is Beachfront this specific unit is located in the 100 Building (see property map in the photos section), and is closer to the Sound than the Beach.

From your Main Level you have one very huge deck, with room for the entire family, and with a spectacular Garden view. Then there is another sizable deck on the other side of the unit with a direct view of the Sound, where you can savor watching the Sunsets over the Sound every afternoon. Great outdoor space available with this unit.

It is possible to walk to the Resort’s private Beach access, but since this is a enormous 24+acre property that stretches from Sound to the Ocean, it can be a longer walk to the beach from certain sections of the resort versus other areas.

If you have a lot of beach gear, or modest kids, it might not be practical to walk to the beach from this unit in the summer heat (between 1/8 mile to 1/4 mile depending on unit location). Your best option might be to drive to the parking area right near the Outdoor Pool and Beach access. This private parking area is reserved for Resort guests where you can conveniently drop off your family and gear, or even park in the spaces supplied if one is available.

STAIRS / ACCESSIBILITY:

Most properties in OBX have a certain number of stairs, so that buildings are elevated and protected in case of potential flooding that could be caused by hurricanes or major storms.

Almost all the units at this resort have a certain number of stairs leading to the Front Door of the unit. Some have interior stairs to a 2nd level, or depending on the specific unit configuration, as few stairs up or down to one of the bedrooms inside the unit. The number of stairs varies depending on the specific unit configuration, and whether the unit is considered first floor, second floor, or third floor. Typically the higher you go the better your view is from the outdoor decks and windows.

BIS-Duck Resort will provide assistance carrying your suitcases / baggage to your unit if you would like some help.

For this specific unit:
Exterior Stairs to Front Door – 28 steps

UNIT INTERIORS:

This property was originally constructed in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Recently a $8+ Million dollar remodel project was started, and expected to be finished in phases thru 2022/2023.

Until the entire renovation is finished, resulting in every unit interior being modernized, you will find most unit interiors are cavernous and comfortable but very dated. So while personally I would describe this overall property as very laid back, casual, and comfortable, it is important to note that these units definitely have more of a rustic, nearly like a dated cabin at the beach type feel, with older furnishings and carpets. Hopefully the photos supplied give you a general understanding for what I am describing.

The benefits offered by this resort are the overall amenities, including one of the biggest outdoor pool areas on OBX. Next to the pool area there is an onsite Sea Glass Snack Shack serving stuff like burgers and hot dogs, beverages, and water ice. By the summer of 2022 the Sea Glass Snack Shack is expected to have licensing to also serve some alcoholic beverages.

This property is definitely one of the most unique on OBX, with direct access to the both the Beach and the Sound, and in very close proximity to the many stores and eateries in the Town of Duck. You also benefit from these roomy units being priced lower than comparable options of the same size in the area.

Many families appreciate their annual vacations at this property, however if you are a traveler that requires more opulent accommodations, this may not be the right choice for you, and you might want to consider one of the more expensive listings available.

I am not trying to sound negative, because personally we enjoy this property, I just want to make sure your expectations match reality. So if you have any specific questions on this please don't hesitate to ask.

GUEST ACCESS

Your unit is private, but since this is a large Resort property, amenities will be shared with other guests (Pools, Hot Tub, Gym, Beach, Outdoor Games, etc).

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

- Primary Guest checking in must be at least 21 years of age with a valid ID and credit card for security deposit. If a security deposit is required, it will be returned to you after Check Out if you have not made any charges to your room.

- Barrier Island Station – Duck is professionally managed and operated by Vacation Resorts International (VRI). The Front Desk is staffed for Check-In, Check-Out, and is available for any questions, issues, or need for assistance during your stay.

- Check In time is 4:00pm and check out time is 10:00am. Please check with the resort Front Desk for any possibility of earlier unit availability and / or early use of the resort amenities during check-in days.

- Late Check In: The Front Desk / Office is open from 8am to 7pm. If you arrive after those hours you can go to the Security office and get access to your unit. Then the following morning you will need to go to the office by 11am to get officially signed in and receive your parking passes, information, etc.

- Up to Three COMPLIMENTARY parking passes are included with this unit, which you will receive from the Front Desk at Check In. If you need parking for an additional car you can arrange this directly with the Front Desk.

- Linens linens, including blankets, sheets, and pillows are supplied. However, if have you have any favorites blankets or pillows, or if you sleep better using a certain type of pillow, it would be good to bring your own.

- If you plan on using the Sleeper couches during your stay, I definitely recommend bringing your own sheets, pillows, and blankets, maybe even a bed pad for the Sleeper couch specifically, which can be turned into a very comfortable additional bed.

- Bath and Hand towels are included for you and will be inside your unit when you arrive.

- There is no daily housekeeping supplied. However your unit does have it's own Washer / Dryer in the unit that is for your use only. If additional housekeeping is desired during your stay it is available for an additional fee scheduled directly with the resort Front Desk.

- Each Guest will receive a "Starter Package" from the Front Desk at Check In. This will have basic supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, etc to get you thru the first day or two of your stay. However it is highly recommended to bring additional PAPER products (toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, etc) and your own CLEANING products (detergents, cleaners, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, etc).

- Pool / Beach towels are not supplied. Each family should bring their own pool / beach towels

- You should bring your own beach chairs / beach blankets / umbrellas / equipment you want to use on the beach. If you don’t bring your own stuff, you are able to rent beach chairs / umbrellas on the beach out in front of the facility.

- If you or any members of your family enjoy bicycle riding, I strongly recommend taking your own bicycles (if you have the means to do so). Bikes are a great way to move around the resort, and also ride into the Town of Duck. Bicycle units in Duck are available if you don't bring your own. Remember to take your bicycle locks so you can lock up your bicycles at the bicycle rack each nighttime.

- If you are interested in fishing while on vacation, there is Surf fishing out in front of the resort on the beach, or pier fishing from the pier on the ocean or the pier on the sound (both piers are very close to the property). There are also many rental and charter boats for fishing based out of the various inlets if you wanted access to waters farther offshore.

- Animals are not allowed anywhere on or in the resort property.

About the Area

Located in Kitty Hawk, this condo is on the beach. Aqua Spa and The Sanderling Spa are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those looking for area attractions can visit Nor'Banks Sailing and Children at Play Museum. Paradise Fun Park and Corolla Adventure Golf and Bumper Cars are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
