This property has one of the biggest outdoor pools on OBX and a Recreation Center with Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna, Exercise Room, and Activity Room.
THE SPACE
This is the B side of a 2BR/2.5BA lock-off unit. This unit is rated to sleep four (4) persons. This unit is roughly 650sq feet.
The B side – 1BR/1BA: King Size bed, Partial Kitchen with Sink, Microwave, Mini Fridge, Coffee Maker, etc. Living Room area with Queen Sleeper couch, Dining table with 4 chairs, outdoor Deck with table and chairs.
There is a Washer / Dryer in the entry area shared only by the Guests in this specific A and B unit lock-off.

Please note that this listing includes multiple weeks available. The photos reflect the interiors of numerous different units you might be assigned, depending on which specific week you book. However, these units all have the same basic floorplan, with the general decor and layout reflected in the photos. If you have any questions, please feel complimentary to ask.
GARDEN / SOUND VIEW CATEGORY:
Garden View Category: This unit will be located in the 600 Building (see property map in the photos section), a little nearer to the Sound side. This is a 1st floor unit with just a few steps, so painless access!
There is no view of the ocean from this unit, and the view type category is considered “Garden View.” Of the 115 total units at this resort, roughly 75% of them are considered "Garden View," which can also include a view of the grounds, other buildings, or the parking areas.
The indoor Recreation Center with Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna, Shower room, Exercise Room, Activity Room, etc is located right next door to this unit, so only steps away.
It is possible to walk to the Resort’s private Beach access, but since this is a sizable 24+acre property that stretches from Sound to the Ocean, it can be a longer walk to the beach from certain sections of the resort versus other areas.
If you have a lot of beach gear, or modest kids, it might not be practical to walk to the beach from this unit in the summer heat (about 1/8 mile depending on unit location). Your best option might be to drive to the parking area right near the Outdoor Pool and Beach access. This private parking area is reserved for Resort guests where you can conveniently drop off your family and gear, or even park in the spaces supplied if one is available.
STAIRS / ACCESSIBILITY:
Most properties in OBX have a certain number of stairs, so that buildings are elevated and protected in case of potential flooding that could be caused by hurricanes or major storms.
BIS-Duck Resort will provide assistance carrying your baggage to your unit if you would like some help.
For this specific unit:

UNIT INTERIORS:
This property was originally constructed in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Recently a $8+ Million dollar remodel project was started, and expected to be finished in phases.
Until the entire renovation is finished, resulting in every unit interior being refreshed, you will find most unit interiors are cavernous and comfortable but very dated with decor from the late 1980's or early 1990's.
While personally I would describe this overall property as very laid back, casual, and comfortable, it is important to note that these units definitely have more of a rustic, nearly like a dated cabin at the beach type feel, with older furnishings and carpets. Hopefully the photos supplied give you a general understanding for what I am describing.
The benefits offered by this resort are the overall amenities, including one of the biggest Outdoor Pool areas on OBX, private Guest access to a nice Beach, and a Recreation Center offering an Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, Workout Room, and Activity Room.
Please note that if this unit was modernized the nightly rate would be rather a bit higher. Many families appreciate their annual vacations at this property, however if you are a traveler that requires more extravagant accommodations, this may not be the right choice for you, and you might want to consider one of the more expensive listings on Vacation Rental By Owner.
I am not trying to sound negative, because personally we savor this property for what it is, not what it isn't. I just want to make sure your expectations match reality. If you have any specific questions on this, please don't hesitate to ask.
GUEST ACCESS
Your unit is private, but since this is a Resort property, Conveniences will be shared with other guests (Pools, Beach, Grills, Outdoor Games, Outdoor spaces, etc).
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
- Primary Guest checking in must be at least 21 years of age with a valid ID and credit card for security deposit. If a security deposit is required, it will be returned to you after Check Out if you have not made any charges to your room.

- Barrier Island Station – Duck is professionally managed and operated by Capital Vacations. The Front Desk is staffed for Check-In, Check-Out, and is available for any questions, issues, or need for assistance during your stay.
- Check In time is 4:00pm (or after) and check out time is 10:00am. Please check with the resort Front Desk for any possibility of earlier unit availability and / or early use of the resort amenities during check-in days.
- Late Check In: The Front Desk / Office is open from 8am to 7pm. If you arrive after those hours you can go to the Security office and get access to your unit. Then the following morning you will need to go to the office by 11am to get officially signed in and receive your parking passes, information, etc.
- Please note that once you Check In and get access to your unit, if you encounter any issues or concerns regarding Housekeeping, Maintenance, etc…please contact the Front Desk / Office IMMEDIATELY. The staff members on-site provide the best opportunity to get any concerns resolved in the fastest and most efficient manner.
- Please note that some of the photos may not be from the specific unit you will be assigned. However, they do reflect the general layout you can expect from various locations in the unit.
- One COMPLIMENTARY parking pass is included with this unit, which you will receive from the Front Desk at Check In. If you need parking for an additional car, you can arrange this directly with the Front Desk.
- Linens linens, including blankets, sheets, and pillows are supplied. However, if have you have any favorites blankets or pillows, or if you sleep better using a certain type of pillow, it would be good to bring your own.
- Please especially take note of the detail above about bed coverings. BIS-Duck provides Blankets but does NOT provide the heavier, bulkier Comforters that you may have on your bed at home. The Blankets on the beds should be fine for most families, but you could bring an additional Blanket or Comforter if you have any concerns about that.
- If you plan on using the Sleeper couches during your stay, I definitely recommend bringing your own sheets, pillows, and blankets, maybe even a bed pad for the Sleeper couch specifically, which can be turned into a very comfortable additional bed. Also plan accordingly if your unit has multiple sleeper couches (bringing 2 sets of sheets, pillows, blankets, etc).
- Bath and Hand towels are supplied for you and will be inside your unit when you arrive.
- Please note that Housekeeping will provide additional towels and blankets upon request. Just contact the Front Desk and they will arrange a drop-off.
- There is no daily housekeeping included. However, your unit does have its own Washer / Dryer in the unit that is for your use only. If additional housekeeping is desired during your stay, it is available for an additional fee scheduled directly with the resort Front Desk.
- Each Unit will receive a "Starter Package" at Check In. Your unit will have basic supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, etc to get you thru the first day or two of your stay. I recommend you definitely be prepared for this by bringing your own supplies in these categories based on what you feel you will need for the week (especially if there are specific brands you favor). Also don’t forget any cleaning products if you want them (cleaners, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, etc). There are grocery stores conveniently located in Kitty Hawk, Duck, and Corolla if you want to shop for any groceries or personal items you want during your stay.
- Pool / Beach towels are not supplied. Each family should bring their own pool / beach towels
- You should bring your own Beach Chairs / Beach Blankets / Umbrellas / Coolers / Equipment you want to use on the beach. If you don’t bring your own stuff, you are able to rent Beach chairs / Umbrellas in the Town of Duck, or during most summer weeks on the beach out in front of the facility.
- The new H2OBX Waterpark freshly constructed in Powell's Point is only about 15 miles away
- If you or any members of your family enjoy bicycle riding, I strongly recommend taking your own bicycles (if you have the means to do so). Bikes are a great way to move around the resort and also ride into the Town of Duck. Bicycle units in Duck are available if you don't bring your own. Remember to take your bicycle locks so you can lock up your bicycles each nighttime.
- If you are interested in fishing while on vacation, just make sure you have the proper licenses.
- Animals are not allowed anywhere on or in the Resort property.
About the Area
Located in Kitty Hawk, this condo is on the beach. Monument to a Century of Flight and Wright Brothers National Memorial are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Aqua Spa and The Sanderling Spa. Traveling with kids? Consider Nor'Banks Sailing, or check out an event or a game at Pine Island Racquet & Fitness Center. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
