Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site
One of historic Charleston's many unique points of interest, this park is the site of the first English Settlement (1670) in South Carolina. The park, a nature preserve and historic site, Charles Towne Landing interprets the first years of the colony with hands-on activities. Other special features of the park include a full scale reproduction 17th century trading vessel "Adventure", a natural habitat zoo, the 1670 Experimental Crop Garden and 80 acres of English Park Gardens.
Old Dorchester State Historic Site
This historic park is the site of a Colonial village founded in 1697 by a group representing the Congregational Church of Dorchester, Massachusetts. Attractions at this 325-acre park today include the site of the c. 1757 tabby fort, on-going archaeological excavations of the village, and the tower of St. George's Parish Church.
