CoastalGuide generates over 50 attractions lists in context with where our readers' access them. To see a breakdown of the types of attractions list, go to the bottom of this page.
The attractions database is taken from Jumptown, CoastalGuide's FREE listings of attractions along the coast. Any bonafide attraction that submits their site with ALL the required fields and gets accepted into Jumptown will show up in the state coast attractions master list and their regional attractions list. their local list, etc. Note that Jumptown listings are plain, short description, unembellished (no logo or picture) with a link. The Jumptown sorting is generally alphabetic, but even that's only roughly done at the free level. Even if an attraction wants to advertise they should submit a free listing. In competitive lists where there can be lots to choose, the free listing becomes a 2nd chance to get the click. In non-competitive lists it can save them an advertising fee.
A business may choose to have their Sponsors Gallery ad extended to their [1] local, [2] surrounding area, [3] regional, [4] regional-BY-INTEREST or [5] state-Coast-BY-INTEREST attractions list (see breakdown of lists at the bottom of this page). Clients can pick any one, several, or all of the lists. The selection is entirely their option.
Ad space: The ad space is available at the top of the each type of attractions list. The ads come first, then the attractions. These ads will be the same as what displays in the Sponsors Gallery, so the client can have logos, pictures, more marketing text, etc. The ads will be sorted in descending "average monthly advertising dollars spent with CoastalGuide" order and then "date of this sponsorship session" order (i.e, top dollars first, any ties go to the oldest continuously advertising client).
Qualifying: Note that the client must FIRST be listed in the Sponsors Gallery for their town on CoastalGuide. To avoid confusing our readers using the guide, a sponsor MUST be located in, or within 20 miles of, the attractions list's locale. (Example: A sponsor's winery in New Bern could NOT extend their ad to the Morehead City attractions.)
Attractions Advertising Fee: $15/month for the FIRST attractions page and $5/month for each additional attractions pages. This is in addition to the Sponsors Gallery fees.
EXAMPLE: Using a fictional "Edenton Vineyard"
Vineyards are considered to be attractions by CoastalGuide
Location: Edenton = Eastern Albemarle Region
Sponsors Gallery Town(s) and associated Gallery fees: Edenton and Hertford
| http://www.edenton.com/sponsors/ | $15/mo |
| http://www.hertford.com/sponsors/ | $5/mo |
The vineyard decides on [2] surrounding area, [3.A] regional, and [4.m] regional-BY-INTEREST attractions list. The vineyards are opting out of Edenton "local attractions" (because they have a free listing there and there are no other vineyards competing with them in Edenton). They are also opting out of the state-Coast-BY-INTEREST listing because they feel it isn't focused enough for their marketing efforts (they have no online store and are promoting actual physical visits only). They are relying on their free listing for this one, too.
Edenton Vineyard's ad would show at the top of the following pages:
| [2] surrounding area | http://www.edenton.com/attractions/area-attractions.shtml | $15/mo |
| [3.A] regional | http://www.albemarle-nc.com/attractions/Eastern_Albemarle.shtml | $5/mo |
| [4.m] regional-BY-INTEREST | http://www.albemarle-nc.com/attractions/AL_wine.shtml | $5/mo |
Because the opted out, only their free listing would display here:
| [1] local | http://www.edenton.com/attractions/local-attractions.shtml | $0 |
| [5.m] state-Coast-BY-INTEREST | http://www.coastalguide.com/attractions/NC_wine.shtml | $0 |
